Structural massage, also known as structural integration or structural bodywork, is a specialized form of massage therapy that focuses on the body's structural alignment and posture. The goal is to bring the body into a more balanced and optimal alignment by addressing imbalances, restrictions, and tension in the connective tissues (fascia) and muscles.

Your therapist will work with you to identify postural issues, movement patterns, and areas of chronic tension. Through targeted hands-on techniques, the aim is to release restrictions in the fascia, promote better alignment, and enhance overall body awareness. This type of massage may involve a series of sessions, each building upon the progress made in the previous one.

Structural massage can be beneficial for individuals experiencing chronic pain, postural issues, or seeking to improve their body's overall alignment and function. It's often considered a more comprehensive approach to massage therapy, addressing not only immediate muscular tension but also the underlying structural components of the body.

Energy Work

I graduated from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy (now called the Cortiva Institute) in 2011. My focus is a blend of holistic and therapeutic massage that includes techniques of Swedish massage, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, energy work, lymphatic drainage, IASTM, and myofascial cupping.

I decided to become a massage therapist in 2009. I was in my early 20’s trying to figure out what to do with my life, and I was working at a job I absolutely hated. It was 12 hour overnight shifts of work that ranged from stressful to just plain dangerous. Massage had always been something I’d thought about but never very seriously, until that is, I got about a year into this job and all I could think was, “I want to do the exact opposite of this mess!”

But also, I kept thinking about the people I worked with, and all the other people who have horribly stressful jobs, and horribly stressful lives, and I wanted to help. I enrolled in CCMT’s part time massage program in July of 2009, started a month later, graduated in 2011, quit that job the second I could, and I’ve never looked back.

Since then I’ve worked for Massage Envy for the majority of my career alongside a private office I helped set up, a holistic center, a chiropractic office, and now finally I’m working for myself with two amazing friends and colleagues.

I love what I do. I can’t imagine doing anything else, and if I can help you get rid of your stress, or your pain, or just help you get away from everything for an hour, it would be my absolute joy to do so.

Hi! I am Antoine Read and I’ve been a licensed massage & bodywork therapist for almost 13 years now.  I started this journey because of my passion for learning all about human movement, and because of the healing journey I myself was on. As I stepped out into the massage therapy world,  I almost immediately got hit with carpal tunnel symptoms from the long hours, and the break down in my posture as a result.

During that time, I immersed myself into the study of pain, posture, and compensation patterns with Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy and was able to get rid of the carpal tunnel symptoms that I had been experiencing. Ever since then, my focus has been on continuing to learn the clinical orthopedic side of massage therapy and show others how to heal themselves just as I have.
